ESC 2013 - Alcohol is free

I'm so sorry I didn't post for a while now (again.... _ _'). I started writing several times, anyway it never felt worth posting, so I didn't submit it (maybe I should finally delete all those drafts...? |'D? ).

Anyway, how are you guys/girls ( *`ω´) As for me, it could be better for sure, anyway I'm quite fine - and not ill anymore (I caught a terrible cold lately, which now seems to be gone at last! ^^).

I'm currently working on several new songs (lyrics AND music), so I hope that I can find some vocalist for those tracks then ^^;;; (because, you know, you really don't want to hear me sing as a main-vocalist .... (; ̄ェ ̄)!!).

But as we are talking about music, there's something quite prevailing: ESC 2013!

I'm aware of that it sounds a little awkward for a rock musician to be interested about ESC... But yes, I actually am. It's not like that I'm a big fan of ESC (especially because I really dislike 99,99% of all participating artists and their songs...), but to be honest, it's intetesting what's "trend" in the several countries and sometimes you even find some great inspiration in foreign artists.

So usually, I just let it stream while I'm doing something else in between, like... listening to the radio.

BUT: this year is different. I'm really curious this time! ☆  It's because KOZA MOSTRA will perform for Greece!! o(`ω´ )o When I first heard their new song, I was all like: "I really don't know whether I should love or laugh about it!", but now, it's both.

I love the mix between the young and fresh ska-music, and the more traditional "rembetiko*"-style.

Additionally, I also love the lyric's contrast (exactly the same as described in the music :'D).

What about you? Do you have a favourite artist in this year's ESC? Or do you think ESC is totally gratudious in general?

Please leave your opinion ☆

(By the way, I'm drinking "Mavrodaphne" at the moment... it's Greek wine, so to speak :) I love it!!)

(Btw., "rembetiko" is a music style which can be described as something like "balkan blues", I'd say... please just check Google if you're interested <3 )

  1. Good luck! I hope, you'll get musicians to sing your songs :).
I'm fine, just returned from a week-end in Austria and quite happy to read from you again.
Generally, I like the ESC - simply as I've been watching it with my parents since I was ten so no matter how bad it was or how stupid I think most of the stuff is... I watch it. Because it's tradition.
This year, I watched again and... well, first semi was rather week, so I waited for the second for some reveals. And yes, the participants from Greece stunned me with their song... There were so many details to be remarked on stage, I'm glad they could perform twice so I could see really everything.
But I also liked Denmark (who won), Ukraine and Iceland. Russia was not bad, too - but not good enough.

    1. Thank you so much! :)

Ohh, so you did some traveling? Envy galore, haha! :'3 I really hope that I'll have some time to travel this year, too! Even if it's just a weekend ☆

Ohhh, Iceland! I liked that one, too. It's so... soft and minimalist. It really won't be my favourite song, and I don't think that I'll buy his CD or something, but I think it's totally catchy and - in my opinion - totally represents Iceland (even though I don't understand the lyrics...).

    2. Yes, used the fact that I've no lections on fridays/thursday afternoons plus a long week-end to go to Austria for almost a week (till monday).
I hope you will have the time!

You just framed it - minimalist. That's what it is and what made it so charming :). I don't understand the language either, I wish I would...
